NZDRA Remain Delegated Authority for Drag Racing by FIA

The Board are pleased to announce the FIA delegated authority to control Drag Racing in New Zealand has again been awarded to the New Zealand Drag Racing Association Inc.

Motorsport and the FIA reviewed the present situation in New Zealand and concluded the best way forward with the sport of Drag Racing in New Zealand is under NZDRA governance with an endeavour to bring the sport back together.

In a tuff financial climate, separate entities in one small country are not going to sustain the sport, said Chris Tynan General Manager of NZDRA. There are few ways to succeed in this business/ entertainment/ sport and not working together to meet the aims of those we are here to represent is counterproductive, he said. The benefits of working together after two years must be quite obvious to all.

Contact with the two venues concerned will be ongoing, with a view to have them back on board in 2014 with the other seven NZDRA sanctioned venues.
